Partnering with those most vulnerable to violence

Action Kivu partners with ABFEC, a Congolese owned and operated non-profit. We provide direct assistance to survivors of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Eastern Congo through entrepreneurial training and education projects rooted in peace and equality. We advocate community-based initiatives and sustainable solutions developed by members of the Congolese community that provide pathways for them to be agents for peace as they create a thriving society for all. Our entrepreneurial programs and the Congo Peace School are located in Mumosho, a village outside of Bukavu, the capital city of South Kivu, a region of Congo that borders Rwanda. A beacon of hope

The ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) follows centuries of enslavement and the systematic raping of Congo’s resources that have resulted in extreme poverty, political corruption, and armed conflict leaving the most vulnerable — women and children — with little access to education, food, or medical services. Action Kivu provides the necessary resources for restorative initiatives to help end to this cycle of violence.

 Restoring lives on four fronts

Led by Congolese community-builder and educator Amani Mataboro, we are dedicated to repairing the damage done by years of violence in this region. We focus on the women and children who are the most at risk and whose security and success will make the biggest impact in their community. Our mission focuses on four complementary initiatives:

ENTREPRENEUR TRAININGProviding women a path to equality and financial independence through skills training and the foundation to operate a small business.
