Since Action Kivu launched in 2010, partnering with our founding director Amani Matabaro in Congo, we have graduated 247 sewing students with their own sewing kits, women who now pay for their children’s food, school fees, and medical care. Because of Action Kivu’s supporters, Amani was able to expand his vocational training to include soap making, bread baking, basket weaving, organic farming, and the Literacy Program, which has served over 300 women and girls previously denied a formal education.

Action Kivu recently opened the doors to the first four grades of the Congo Peace School, thanks to the generous partnership from The Dillon Henry Foundation, a gift from the Pour Les Femmes Fund to finish funding construction costs, generous Guardian Donors giving at $5000 and more, and individual monthly donors from our Action Kivu family! On Monday, September 3rd, 2018, 160 students filled the classrooms in grades 1 & 2 primary and grades 1 & 2 secondary, and met the teachers and staff who have been trained in the Kingian principles of peace and nonviolence. This was the first day of a new path to lasting peace.

Visit Action Kivu’s blog to learn about the impact your giving makes in the lives of the women and children in Congo. Thank you for investing in peace, equality, and education!
