Partnership Makes the Work Possible
Action Kivu’s work is made possible through partnership. Our partners contribute funding, expertise, time, and resources that strengthen locally led programs and expand access to education, health, food security, and opportunity across eastern Congo. For generations, Congo’s extraordinary natural wealth has fueled prosperity around the world, while too little of that wealth has benefited the communities from which it comes. Action Kivu works to redirect resources and opportunity by investing in Congolese leaders who know their communities, define their priorities, and lead the work.
Our partners make that investment possible, providing the resources that strengthen locally led solutions, expand what communities can achieve, and put funding directly behind the people shaping their own futures.
Together, we invest in the people and organizations creating lasting change in their own communities.
Action pour le Bien-être des Femmes et des Enfants au Congo (ABFEC)
Founded and led by Amani Matabaro, Action pour le Bien-être des Femmes et des Enfants au Congo (ABFEC) is the Congolese organization that created, leads, and operates the projects Action Kivu supports, from the Congo Peace School to the regenerative farm to community education and disease prevention. Rooted in South Kivu, ABFEC provides the local vision, leadership, and expertise at the heart of the community-powered projects.
Amani and the ABFEC team set strategic priorities, design and implement programs, and work directly with students, families, educators, and community members across ABFEC’s work. This local leadership ensures that programs evolve in response to community priorities while advancing a long-term vision for peace, education, and opportunity in the region.
The Congo Peace School is a central part of that locally led work and Action Kivu’s largest resource mobilization priority. Alongside the school, Action Kivu mobilizes resources for ABFEC’s broader programs and priorities, strengthened by a network of philanthropic and international partners committed to their continued impact and sustainability.
The Congo Peace School Project Partnership
The Dillon Henry Foundation is the founding partner of the Congo Peace School, providing the capital to build the initial campus and the energy in connecting a greater community to help grow the school from its opening four grades to today’s grades 1-12. Through sustained philanthropic investment, strategic planning, and major donor engagement, the Foundation has helped build the financial foundation for the school and advance its long-term sustainability.
The DHF continues its work through individual philanthropy, capital investment, legacy stewardship, and philanthropic advocacy, cultivating relationships and resources that strengthen the school today and help secure its future.
Nest Global is the dedicated early childhood education partner of the Congo Peace School, funding and supporting The Nest, the school’s three-classroom preschool program. Since the program’s launch in 2019, Nest Global has invested in creating a safe, engaging early learning environment where the school’s youngest students can learn, play, eat nutritious meals, and build a strong foundation for primary school.
In addition to ongoing funding, Nest Global brings expertise in early childhood education, teacher training and mentorship, learning environments, and play-based pedagogy, strengthening the Congo Peace School’s capacity to provide high-quality education from a student’s earliest years.
